Cabernet Franc from the cool & unique vineyard at K1, in Kuitpo, southern Adelaide Hills. Grown by the incredibly knowledgeable Geoff Hardy. The 2023 vintage concluded with a long & drawn out ripening period, which we think quite favoured this site for Cabernet Franc. The fruit had plenty of hang time, without being exposed to excessive heat, hence developing flavour & tannin without pushing sugar/alcohol too high. Once hand picked, the fruit was fully destemmed & fermented on skins for three weeks before being pressed to seasoned barriques. After 9 months maturing in barrel, the wine was blended into tank where it rested for a further 9 months before being bottled. It’s a blue-fruited & acid driven wine, with structure & a varietal lift.
