Passage Wines 2025 Pinot Noir
Notes from Passage:
Sourced from three vineyards across Gippsland. The majority comes from the old MV6 vines of Nicholson River, planted in 1978 and dry-grown on alluvial soils in East Gippsland. This is complemented by fruit from a small, self-farmed, dry-grown Pinot Noir vineyard planted twenty-five years ago on the red volcanic soils of Baw Baw Shire, along with a third parcel of MV6 grown on granitic soils in West Gippsland. Together, the sites bring perfume, structure and savoury complexity, while offering a broader expression of Gippsland Pinot Noir. Each parcel was destemmed and fermented with a high proportion of intact whole berries, with gentle pump-overs and hand punch-downs throughout fermentation. The wines matured separately in French oak, including 10% new oak, for ten months before blending and a further three months in stainless steel prior to bottling.
