Foradori 2023 Granato
All notes from Foradori’s deep thinker Theo Zierock.
There is something about this year's Granato that reminds me of a mechanical engine or machine that is just well combined and has charm. It is clear and logical, but the ratios and choices have just something more to it. It goes beyond what it simply is, like the Contax T3 photographic camera or the Porsche 911 or a Moto Guzzi Le Mans from 1976. Now, I know, it looks like I used these things, like I know about them; well, I don't. I heard older humans talk about them like God-given objects. Impossible to under stand and perfect because of it. I know the feeling at least. Fire of an engine on the nose, some burned clutch and cuttlefish ink. It shoots for the upper hard palate, to trickle down, to your upper central gum and then down your soft palate, leaving a bright trace of tannins. The 2023 feels more southern, more Aglianico-ish. The Taurasi of the Dolomites. This wine is a long shot, a keeper, a wise man, a celestial black whole. Personal favourite.
