Le Bas translates to below and this plot borders with the bottom of the 1er Cru of Chapelot, part of the Montee de Tonnerre hill, just a few yards away to the north sits Le Clos Grand Cru.
The quality of this spot as a ‘village wine’ is outstanding. South East exposition. Deeper soil than the 1er Cru of Chapelot so gives more richness (Clay, Limestone, and Kimmeridgian). 3.2 ha, 40 years old. Wild Fermented in steel then elevage in barrel for 12 months of 6 to 30 year old barriques.
