Dérive 2024 Uli Grenache

Notes from the makers.
Grown by the Jericho family on their vineyard situated at the western border of Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. Vintage 2024 saw a return to warmer and sunnier conditions compared to the three prior La Niña vintages, however unseasonal rains in December/January saw berry & bunch sizes increase across many varieties. Spontaneous fermentation with 1/3 whole clusters and 2/3 destemmed whole berries on top. Infusion rather than extraction with no pump-overs or punch-downs, just cap-wetting. Two weeks total maceration before being basket-pressed to tank to complete fermentation before it was racked to old hogsheads for maturation. Fortnightly topping and no movement helped to minimise oxygen exposure so as to preserve the delicate nature of the variety. Bottled after 10 months without fining or filtration and with only a moderate addition of sulphur. Sealed with DIAM cork and wax dipped.
