Ar. Pe.Pe. 2018 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello Sant'Antonio
In 1984, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego, rich with experience from his father’s and grandfather’s wine estate, gave birth to Arpepe, believing in the potential of Valtellina and with the goal of producing long-aged Nebbiolos, in the tradition of this area.
Today, Isabella, Emanuele and Guido continue the work of their father. Ar.Pe.Pe. Grumello Riserva Sant'Antonio comes from vineyards that descend down the “Risc di Sassina”, a very rocky and steep slope lying 450 metres above sea level where work can only be carried out by hand. The harvest is manual and carried on shoulders, in small baskets, along the trails that go up through the rocks.
In the winery, the Ar.Pe.Pe. Grumello Riserva Sant'Antonio grapes ferment in large oak barrels with 45 days of skin-contact maceration. The wine then ages for 60 months in large chestnut barrels and spends at least 36 months in the bottle. Ar.Pe.Pe. Grumello Riserva Sant'Antonio was made to commemorate the founder’s wedding anniversary. A virtuoso wine that starts life next to the church he got married in, in Sant'Antonio a Montagna in Valtellina.
