A & C Ainsworth 2024 Landsborough Grenache
Notes from BIG Andy.
The fruit for the 4th rendition of this wine was picked on 9 April allowing for a long period of flavour development in the vineyard. Our Grenache is foot stomped fermented 100% whole cluster in stainless steel tanks. We undertake pump-overs each day, but avoid any heavy punch downs in order to gently extract the detailed flavours and the fine tannins from the fruit. The wine was pressed after 3 weeks into two old 500L & 600L puncheons for a 10 month elevage before being bottled at the end of February 2025. For us, the resulting wine is evocative of little ripe berries both red and purple, heady with aniseed and a certain amaro-like combination of spices & citrus peel that we find very pleasing. We've rested the wine for 2 months after bottling and it is drinking well now, though will age wonderfully with careful cellaring.
