Hervé Souhaut 2022 La Souteronne
Amazing wines from the Northern Rhône.
Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet was created by Hervé Souhaut in 1993. It is located in Arlebosc, Northern Ardeche, just opposite Hermitage, in Saint Joseph. Unlike the traditional wines of Northern Rhône, Souhaut aims to make wines that can be drunk young but also age, focusing on extraction and producing a balanced tannin. He is a strict organic viticulturist and works with vines ranging from 50-100 years old. The Vin de Pays ‘La Souteronne’ is made from old vine Gamay, and like all his wine is fermented as whole bunch and undergoes long semi carbonic maceration. Gamay with an amazing bouquet of bright red fruits and herbs. Mineral like a Beaujoais, but brightened up by the darker, richer fruit of Rhône.
