François Mikulski 2021 Bourgogne Blanc
François Mikulski is in the top Echelon of Meursault producers. His wines are bright, mineral, racy and incredibly fine.
Mikulski produces elegant wines that are highly sought after and can be hard to find. They start life pale in colour and are typically nervy and tight. Stylistically they are kind of sui-generis as they are not embellished by oak nor do are thy cloaked in reductive artifice - they are fine, precise and have lovely balance and length. In the vines Mikulski is a practitioner of lutte raisonnée, a system of cultivation that is essentially organic and noninterventionist. Lutte raisonnée entails holistic and balanced viticultural management with primary focus on the microbialhealth of the soil and the biodiversity of the vineyard. The Mikulski Chardonnay vineyards were first planted in 1986 and cover 1.5 hectares. They are grown on fine alluvial river sediment and cultivated using organic practices. This vintage was aged in barrel for about 10 months, then into tanks for about 2 before bottling. Long length, and rich. Exceptional.
