2014 Toscana Rosso
Pacina is a magic place.
Named after the Etruscan god of wine, it is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, along the ancient road connecting Arezzo and Siena. Here Giovanna Tieza and Stefano Borsa are carrying on a 1000-year old, local tradition of food and wine production. Their property includes vines, olive groves and woodlands. Sangiovese with little addition of Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo, this is the most traditional blend of the area. Fruit is destemmed and fermented in concrete. The wine is the aged in a mix of old oak casks and concrete tanks. Concentrated earthiness and complexity.
