2022 Doug's Vineyard Pinot Noir

Doug’s Vineyard has been brought to mind by Joshua Cooper’s work, but here in the very good hands of Dilworth & Allain.
Wood smoke whiffs over dark cherry, old rose petals, tree bark. Savoury start. Palate is savoury too, wafer thin, mouth-watering, sour cherry with more smoky spice characters, a little undergrowth, ferrous earthy notes and iodine and smoky characters finish the wine – fruit characters . Very savoury, to reiterate. It feels a bit more about smoke and rustic earthiness than fruit, even if fruit characters can be those things, if you get my drift. It pulls up a bit short, too. It hits the ‘interesting’ zone despite visceral pleasure being below that. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
