2020 Qvinterra
Carolin Spanier-Gillot took over as winemaker at Küling-Gillot in 2002, and by 2006 had converted the estate to be certified Biodynamic.
In 2014, Carolin was named German winemaker of the year, becoming the first woman to ever take out this prize. Today she heads up this historic winery which has existed in its present form since 1970 when two of the region's most established and historic wineries, Kühling and Gillot, were joined by marriage. It's fair to say Kühling-Gillot is in good hands, as Carolin's reputation as one of Germany's most exciting and talented winemakers continues to impress discerning Riesling-lovers across the globe. Qvinterra is Latin for '5 lands', as grapes for this wine come from five famous villages on the Rhine Terrace: Oppenheim, Nierstein, Nackenheim, Bodenheim, and Laubenheim. This Riesling has intoxicating floral aromatics, and displays a complex palate with apple, citrus and savoury characters.
