2022 DHILLON Glenhope Macedon Ranges Rosé
Notes from the vigneron - Michael Dhillon:
This new project allows us to extend the fun we are having interpreting dry and textured Rosé styles. This Merlot and Shiraz based Rosé from cold climate fruit shows the elevation, granite soil strength and winemaking search for fragrance and texture. The fruit was gently pressed and the more coloured juice directed away to the Accidental Red (a light, supple wine and a story in itself!). Fermentation to dryness in old French oak saw the wine develop excellent texture while still remaining fresh and vigorous over the six months it spent in barrel. It begins with aromas of red roses, shows red currant and just ripe strawberry with a touch of cream and spice adding a little more complexity than may be expected. The palate is fresh, cool, moderately intense and fine and shows very good length. Certainly delicious now, it will drink well for the next few years (weeks?!).
