2021 Breaking Ground Shiraz
Exciting wines from 3rd generation maker and grower, and all round good bloke, Ollie Margan.
Notes from Ollie - 40yr old vines from our Timbervines site. Picked on the early side of 13 bé as soon as the green acid softened. Whole berry ferment with no must rectification; carbonic derived confection was encouraged to a point. Pressed to stainless steel partway through ferment to minimise extraction. Sulphured and racked to bottle post malo-lactic fermentation with no filtration. Retains a slight effervescence. My interpretation of Shiraz from our volcanic soil. Shiraz with a ‘z’, Juicy with a capital ‘J’! Perhaps most exemplifies the direction these wines are all heading; Clean as a whistle and full of energy.
