2021 Breaking Ground Barbera
Exciting wines from 3rd generation maker and grower, and all round good bloke, Ollie Margan.
Notes from Ollie - The young vines from our 1998 established Ceres Hill vineyard. Comprised of the earlier picks from the vineyard with the inclusion of whole bunch clusters. This acts to soften the naturally sky-high acidity with some stem derived potassium. Barbera is a grape almost completely void of tannin, so the ‘stemmy’ complexity of whole bunch creates some light and chewy tannins. Indigenous ferment, pressed off after partial ferment. Rested in a combination of stainless steel and old French oak. Unfined and unfiltered. Pizza wine.
