2021 Blood Orange
This new wine takes the principles of lengthy maceration time explored in white varieties by Ari's Mandarin.
This time it's a red / white co-ferment. Here they have used Fiano and Pinot Noir. The Fiano comes from Grove Estate – from a tiny almost forgotten block hidden away in the back corner of a vast vineyard, where it was agreed their first ever trial of organic grape growing would take place. The Pinot Noir comes from the Poachers vineyard in Murrumbateman. Farmed organically for a good few years now. All fruit was hand sorted and de-stemmed into stainless steel tanks, then gently basket pressed in early Spring to neutral barriques where it rested until just before vintage. The result is a wine with a colour nothing short of spectacular, wild aromas of spiced cherries and a lovely blood orange bitterness to the finish.
