2021 Balzac

Notes from Yoko and Andries AKA Brave New Wine!
Mataro from Swinneys Powderbark Ridge Vineyard hand picked and sealed up in open fermenters for long carbonic maceration which we pushed out as long as possible with the idea to emulate stylistically really funky Beaujolais which we love to drink. The nose shows earth and black pepper over deep red and black fruits with a hints of seaweed and leather. The palate is light and concentrated at the same time. Savoury dark plums and blackberry, silky tannins and a long savoury finish driven by fresh natural acidity.
