2021 ABC Chardonnay

Notes from Jasper Button:
The ABC parcel is the coolest site in the vineyard facing due east with a relatively gentle slope. It also has some of the thinnest soil of clay but with the sandstone shelf closest to the surface. The coolness and bareness of the soil always produces a leaner more structured wine. ABC 2021 is a leaner style than in previous years and it has apples and pears and honey, but this is balanced with savoury undertones and an earthiness from the clay and minerals in the sandstone. The acidity is present from the beginning but lingers nicely and is carried by a phenolic sandy texture.
