François Mikulski is in the top Echelon of Meursault producers. His wines are bright, mineral, racy and incredibly fine.
Mikulski produces elegant wines that are highly sought after and can be hard to find. They start life pale in colour and are typically nervy and tight. Stylistically they are kind of sui-generis as they are not embellished by oak nor do are thy cloaked in reductive artifice - they are fine, precise and have lovely balance and length. In the vines Mikulski is a practitioner of lutte raisonnée, a system of cultivation that is essentially organic and noninterventionist. Lutte raisonnée entails holistic and balanced viticultural management with primary focus on the microbialhealth of the soil and the biodiversity of the vineyard. 100% Pinot Noir from from around 25 year old vines grown on fine alluvial river sediment. This wine is vinified in vats for about 15 days then transferred to oak barrels for at least a year. Dark fruits galore, with plenty of ability to age.
