2020 Côtes du Rhône La Ferrande
Notes from the importer...
The rare 100% Syrah La Ferrande bottling from Philippe Bravay that he likes to call his “yearly challenge” wine, as Syrah easily gets overripe in the Châteauneuf du Pape region, so picking dates have to be perfect to get this wine into bottle with some finesse. This, as always, is perfect in terms of ripeness, offering up excellent purity in its bouquet of blueberry, black raspberries, pepper, smoke, a hint of dark chocolate and a lovely base of stony soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, complex and nicely plush with a fine core of fruit and silken tannins. This is a seriously lovely wine that is great now, but has good length and structure and should have no difficulties aging gracefully!
