2020 Bandicoot Run My Life In The Sunshine
Exciting new wines out of Gippsland - notes from the makers:
My life in the sunshine – a riff on a little song by Roy Ayres and one of our favourites to listen to while sitting in the sunshine with friends and a glass in hand. This was a little experiment that we hope to get the opportunity to do more of in the future. In 2020 we had a couple of rows of Viognier left - not enough to fill a barrel. Fortuitously we gave our friend Pat Hardiker from Cannibal Creek a call and he had just finished filling his press with some pretty special Sauvignon Blanc fruit. He had a few hundred kilos left that he couldn’t fit in, so a deal was struck and the combination of fruit was enough to fill a single old barrel. 70% Sauvignon Blanc destemmed with 2 days skin contact, basket pressed to barrel to undergo natural fermentation. 30% Viognier destemmed, a few hours of skin contact before being basket pressed and combined with Sauvignon Blanc in barrel. 10 months on full lees in old oak then bottled by gravity straight from barrel.
