2019 Le Trame

New generation Tuscan wine!
Podere Le Boncie is located in the southern part of the Chianti Classico zone. The winemaker Giovanna Morganti was gifted the farm by her father, to which she planted her favourite varietals (Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Foglia Tonda, Mammolo and Prugnolo). Le Trame was formerly a ‘Chianti Classico’, but due to all the red tape and expensive protocol involved, Giovanna now proudly refers to it as a ‘Toscana Rosso’. 80% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino, 10% Foglia Tonda, harvested by hand and fermented in open-topped wooden tanks. A powerful, yet mineral wine, full of fruit and a lovely leathery lick of tannin you expect from the region. This is Giovanna’s flagship wine, and it’s easy to see why.
