2019 Le Timbre Syrah

Jasmine Wakely crafts this wine – she’s a lovely human who is a good part of the Melbourne wine scene, turned winemaker some few seasons ago, makes small batch wines in a shed in Keilor, Melbourne.
No dud wines I have seen from Jasmine. Very much celebrating cooler, fresher, leafier expressions of Syrah. This is slippery and meaty, herbal and minty, fresh and appealing, soft and gummy, pretty and perfumed, sapid, savoury, lush and lithe. It drinks without you thinking, sits cool and clean in the palate, laden with that mint-draped red berry-cherry fruitiness and dusted liberally with white pepper and stirred with beef jerky. It’s a really good example of nouveau Victorian wine, nee Macedon Ranges. Minty-greeness strong in this one; a caveat, and distracts me a touch, but bistros at alert, sophisticated home dining fall in line. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
