2019 Jordy Kay Seymour Chardonnay
Notes from Jordy:
The Seymour vineyard we lease is 50 years old and sits at 150m above sea level on alluvium sand. The winters are cold and wet and the summers hot and dry, however, the temperatures are very cold at night even in summer due to the mountain range and river that horse shoes around the river. The Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon have been organic for 5 years now. The rest is on its third season of organic farming, which makes it technically organic but it’s nice to clarify for transparency. Picked a little later than what I would pick Chardonnay sadly due to the death of the owner’s sister and who I share the property with. The fruit still remains tight, fresh and fun with no tropical flavours. I’m becoming very cautious of Australian Chardonnay picked too early for natural acidity. This is ripe but still balanced and very fun. Fermented at very cool temperatures and aged in stainless steel tank.
