2019 Cretapaglia Sciccu

A blend of Guarnaccia, Guardavalle and Mantonico.
Sciccu means swanky / elegant in the local Calabrian dialect. The three grapes are harvested and fermented separately. They all ferment on skins for about 24 hours in 500L Slavonian tonneau and then age for about 10 months before bottling. The Guardavalle is all about flavour and heartiness. The Guarnaccia gives minerality and the freshness comes from the Mantonico. Herbs, roses, honey and vanilla, kumquat and liquorice roots. Dry finish supported by good acidity and drinkability. Like a Spring day on the Mediterranean coast. Remember that? Me either.
