2018 Tomas Torres Terricola Tinto
The blend of this cuvee changes slightly each year and in 2018 it is 100% Merlot from the vineyards of Carmen Torres and Vicent Tomas.
Carmen and Vicent farm close to three hectares high in the village in Carricola in the Sierra de Benicadell, about an hour south of Valencia. It's hot and dry here but the profoundly chalky (alkaline) soils give the wines plenty of refreshing acidity. This cuvee is delightfully rustic - it was fermented with a high proportion of stalks, sits between medium and full bodied and really does very nicely with food.
