2018 Leeona Bianco
From Tuscany and a blend of trebbiano 40%, malvasia 40% and grechetto 20%.
All of this fermented on skins for 20 days. Organic grapes the bedrock. This is proper stuff, deeply orange, chewy and powdery tannins thrust on apple juice, ginger, lemon and green tea. Long ribbons of flavour, lush then building to a pucker. It’s aromatic too – heady in dried florals and spice. It evolves in glass beautifully too, revealing more and more. So complex and compelling. Here’s one to show the kids having a crack at orange wines – or to get you off the L-plates with the style. Wonderful drinking. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
