From one hectare of Beaujolais vines (in the commune of Émeringes), planted in 1956, on clay, sand and pebbles.
3 weeks carbonic maceration. The wine was then raised in tank and old barrel for 12 months. Not fined or filtered. Zero SO2. You will notice that because she didn't apply for the AOC, so she can't legally put 'Beaujolais' on the bottle. Hence the way it is written. Deep 18 nose, but lighter fruits hiding underneath. You smell a thickness, a creaminess, and then the exotic spice comes in wafts. There is some cola, cherry, strawberry and earth. Barolo-esque VA in the most minute level. The texture is murky but in a good way – like normal wines are too straight – this has its own personality and is relaxed - free as opposed to formulated. A little bit of cocoa on the nose too. Very nice fine soft tannin that lingers.
