Purveyors of fine grape juice
2018 Jilly Wines White Wolf of Cumbria White new england, australia

Jilly rocketed into my top list of interesting New South Wales wine producers, though ‘interesting’ can be pejorative and it’s certainly not the case here.
Quirky, quixotic, quality wines pounce out of the Jilly pack. Sourcing from lesser-sung vineyards/wine regions too. A project to watch, or indulge in when passing through Clunes, NSW. This wine is born from Topper’s Mountain vineyard, New England. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, with about 10% Gewürztraminer. Mostly old oak, and the gewurz sees skins for ten days.
Green apple, whiffs of sandalwood, toast, some dried apple notes. Juicy in the palate, tangy acidity, bordering on tart, a slick of slippery, stone fruit flavours, nice bitter exit as it passes the tongue. Light savoury note in almonds/cashews, and the like, kicks in too. Interesting, delicious, fun. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
