From a small hilltop vineyard in Guarilihue, Itata. 100 year-old vines of Moscatel de Alejandría on granite with close to zero topsoil. Sitting close to the ocean and at altitude, strong maritime winds play an important role. Open fermented in a Pipa of Raulí - large, traditional vessel made of native Beechwood, This vessel is around 200 years old, Leo recently restored it and this is the first wine to be made in it! Fermented on skins for four weeks before being pressed in to the same Pipa for a little more time before being transferred to spherical, unlined concrete for lees ageing. This porous vessel allows great decanting and lees contact simultaneously.
