2018 Basket Range Pinot Noir
We love Sholto and Louis Broderick. Their family are the original grape growers of the Basket Range... So a lot of things you have consumed, have come from their fruit. Notes from Sholto, who just celebrated his 18th birthday..: This wine I think is a good example of showing the hill top Pinot vines, which are on skinnier soils and are more exposed. These vines were picked first in harvest and taken from across the tops of the hills where the fruit ripened more quickely than lower down the hill. This fruit was mostly destemmed and macerated for around 1 - 2 weeks. These parcels were going to be blended with later picked Pinot , but this year the fruit and structures were developed well with in that fruit, maintaining good delicate acidity.
