2018 Antipodés Sauvignon Blanc

Antipodés is the realisation of a long-held dream for Jean-Jacques Morel, the natural micro producer from Saint- Aubin in Burgundy.
It’s uncanny how such a low interventionist wine can remind you so much of the winemaker and their style. Dried herbs, white flowers, dried cream, lemon pith and spice. No classic Savvy fruits, instead complex barrel ferment/aged characters take their place. Rich textural entry with lots of juicy yellow fruits and a little orange suggesting ripeness (no skin). Great concentration of flavours with a strong mineral vein enhanced by great acidity, pithy fruit flesh, and background spice and richness from lees. Sauvignon made in the Burgundy mould. Very impressive.
