2018 Antipodés Sangiovese
Antipodés is the realisation of a long-held dream for Jean-Jacques Morel, the natural micro producer from Saint- Aubin in Burgundy.
1⁄2 a tonne of Sangiovese from Rob Pukes, out the back of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. Fermented in a puncheon with its head knocked out. 12 months in an old French hogshead. Cherry red in the glass with a youthful crimson hue. Spice and red florals with some bright red fruits – plum and cherry, a light dusty note and some comforting old barrel richness. Medium body with fairly slippery texture and restrained flavours to start.
