Notes from the grower and winemaker, Max Marriott... From the Tinderbox Vineyard, a tiny 2ha east facing plot on a cool combination of mudstone, dolerite and scoria. Lots of maritime influence from the d'Entrecasteaux Channel. Cropped at less than 1kg/vine and managed organically. Picked in March, 50% whole bunches, fermented wild on skins for 18 days with a combination of punchdowns and pumpovers. Pressed, settled and racked clean to a neutral barrel, wild malo, 6 month elevage. Perfume, typicity, structure. One barrel only.
