Purveyors of fine grape juice
2017 Sassafras Fiano riverland, australia

From Hilltops, from a bolter of a producer.
Fiano and Hilltops seems a reasonable fit, the wine style here sees some skin contact during fermentation which results in a more interesting, textural wine than most from the variety. A modest 11.5% alcohol helps drive the drinkability stakes. Clever all round.
Good bouquet of peach and lemon, lemon sorbet even, touches of young almond. There we go. The palate has this lovely squeakiness and surprising length with a faint chalkiness that feels dry and refreshing at once. Flavours run cool and fresh, touched up by a faint nutty savouriness and flighty herbal note. There’s a little pleasing, tonic water/grapefruit juice bitterness to close. Ticks many, many boxes.
