2017 Little Things Purple Patch
Wines from James Madden - made in the Adelaide Hills with fruit sourced slightly wider. Winemaking is minimal with the focus on letting the fruit express itself naturally. Organic handpicked fruit, fermented with indigenous yeasts, bottled without fining/filtration or SO2 (any additions) and bottled under vacuum. Wood Vineyard in Clarendon is nestled high overlooking the McLaren Vale flats. This south-facing vineyard was planted in limestone rich soils with pre-colonial clones in 1997 and has always been dry- grown. This fruit comes from the eastern edge as it slopes down towards a dam. Super vigorous and late ripening. De-stemmed topped up with some whole bunch press. This was left to ferment until almost sugar dry them pressed off to tank to finish malolactic fermentation. Although made to be light and fun this wine has the unmistakable power and complexity of the site. Fresh blueberry fruits, subtle notes of rosemary, back pepper with soft tannins. Super delicious.
