2017 Kéké Descombes Beaujolais Villages
Kewin - or Kéké to his mates - has Beaujolais in his blood.
He's the son of Bojo legend Georges Descombes. This comes from vines planted right outside the border of the Brouilly appellation on a nice steep slope with a Northerly aspect, lovely terroir. Bright ruby-red in colour this is fresh and perfumed with little red fruits and flowers and Gamay's telltale finish of spice. It's refreshingly juicy and light with attractive bitter cherry and redcurrant flavours that turn sweeter on the finish. This is a superb rustic and savoury Beaujolais for Summer in a brisk, tangy and lithe style, with no excess fat, silky tannins and with a strong, nervy persistence. This wine is incredibly easy to drink but it doesn't lack for complexity. Enjoy!
