2017 Jean-Paul Carménère



Jean-Paul worked his first vintage in 2007 in Nuits Saint George, Burgundy.
He starting out picking grapes, but somehow ended up in the winery within a week. Notes from him - I fell in love with Carménère when working in Chile. The flavour and depth of the variety are phenomenal. When picked early you get a freshness and savoury note of capsicum. When picked ripe Carménère can be more powerful than Cabernet Sauvignon. This vintage I got it right, the grapes were ripe without losing their savoury note. A wine full of black berries and elderberries also a hint of green peppercorn.
