2017 Good Intentions Wine Co. Frankie
Very cool. Holding low preservative wines back almost a year, under cork. Notes from winemaker, Andrew Burchell..: Two thirds Cabernet Franc and one third Petit Verdot. Grown in two locations; the Cabernet Franc is from Robe located approx. 120 kms from Mount Gambier on the coast with a mix of red terra rossa and sandy soils over shallow limestone. The Petit Verdot is from just outside the Coonawarra wine region on red terra rossa soils. The Franc is partly carbonic macerated and partly de-stemmed and then left on skins until desired fruit flavours are reached (approx. 2-3 weeks). The Petit Verdot was 100% de-stemmed and left for 3 – 4 weeks. Both were pressed off separately and stored in old oak on lees. Both these varieties are late picked, cold soaked naturally and fermented long and slowly in our cool climate winery. After 8 months the wines were blended and left to sit to integrate. They were then racked and minimal sulfur added at bottling.
