Purveyors of fine grape juice
2017 Gentle Folk Pinot Noir adelaide hills, australia

Shape-shifting labelling and naming for the excellent wines from Gentle Folk, but the essence is the same – Gareth Belton, farming Scary Gully Vineyard in Forest Range (without chemicals/organically), making wines with as little winemaking overlay as possible.
Really hitting his strides now, and with a coterie of interesting people helping out or oscillating through his winery shed on his property during harvest. A potent conversation ensues.
Such a gorgeous, immediately appealing, pure, fresh and vital wine here. No longer playing in the carbonic, frisky and fast wine sphere, this is serious red wine of a svelte, controlled, precise and impressively fine nature. Scents of red cherry, faint green herbs, a whiff of earth and stones. The palate is light yet gently firm, showing of just-ripe, lightly sour red berry fruit characters, more of the detail in herb and briar, a faint lick of malt/earth, exceptional shape and length with a fine sheath of silty tannins. It feels au naturale but shows us how great wine moves. Beautiful. This is one of those run don’t walk wines. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
