2017 Fall From Grace Arneis
Notes from the winemaker, Gill..: The Lolita Arneis is handpicked from a gorgeous vineyard half way up Peters creek rd towards Kuitpo (near Yangarra) and this is the 5th vintage from this beautiful organic vineyard which is in conversion to Bio. We love picking this fruit as its always done with friends and we select the best bunches as we ferment in 300 litre clay pots. Half the fruit is destemmed and half whole bunch, it stays on skins until the cap drops, usually two months and then is gently pressed to barrel for 8-12 months. Left on lees with monthly batonnage. It goes through full Malo. The combination of natural acid and skin contact makes a textural, fresh and really food friendly wine with dried pear, fresh stone fruits and spice that works so well with food. 2017 was shaping up to be a little difficult with the weather but as usual this vineyard gave us its best.
