2017 Domaine Jean Yves Péron Champ Levat

Jean-Yves Peron produces his intriguing suite of wines from a 3.5 hectare owned vineyard alongside some 4.5-or-so hectares of purchased/managed grapes/vineyards.
He makes his wines in the town of Chevaline in the French Alp wine region of Savoie. The home estate vineyards are located in Conflans, which is in turn near the more major town of Albertville, and set on rocky slopes where hand-tending is a necessity. The mondeuse in this wine is from old vines (up to 130-years-old, including some pre-phylloxera vines), and it is made intentionally to a mere 11% to 12% alcohol. The wines of Jean-Yves Peron are considered rare, in some circles. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
