2017 Charlotte Dalton Grace Chardonnay adelaide hills, australia

Charlotte Dalton’s eponymous label is rocketing through the pack in South Australia’s boutique wine producing scene.
Slippery textured chardonnay of vitality and brightness yet applied winemaking to elevate softness of mouthfeel and enhance spice elements. There’s sandalwood and apple, stone fruit and clove notes in bouquet. The palate has a nice glide, suppleness, but then an faint but adjacent chew to wood spice character then followed by an even, calm, cool flow of just ripe stone fruit flavours. Oak does make a mark here, too much for me personally, resinous touch, but many will like its caress. It finishes with a lick of tangy acidity and some more spice. It’s easy to like despite it’s slightly unresolved oak/fruit feel. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
