2017 Bobar Shiraz Viognier yarra valley, australia

Two different vineyards for this wine. The wine is about 20% viognier so no interest in the delicate seasoning that comes with most who dabble in the dark art of shiraz viognier.
Picked on freshness, with a lot of whole bunch influence. The whole bunch viognier sits on top of whole bunch syrah, and the wine isn’t crushed, pumped or jumped on, just pressed off and sent to old barrels when it is time.
Perky, tart, refreshing red that sits probably more in the ‘serious’ end of the rose spectrum, or perhaps that increasing zone of light, fresh reds to take a chill. Garnet colour, ruby cut edges, crisp acidity, cranberry and pomegranate smudged with green herbs. Leaner red of squeaky texture and friskiness. Lively and delicious. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
