2016 Sylvain Martinez Corbeau
Sylvain worked for Olivier Cousin for about a decade and continued with him part time until 2016. 2016 was the first year Sylvain had the time to fully work on this Grolleau vineyard and the step up in quality is outrageous. Corbeau is now the best red wine he's made. The red is fermented in tank and the maceration continues on well after the wine is dry. The wine is then run to barrel for elevage and the final wine is less primary than Jerome Lambert's tank fermented and raised reds, for example. Corbeau shows the real earthy complexity that sits in the skin of this variety - 2016 was a great year for reds in Anjou and Sylvain has vinified this super, super well.
