Purveyors of fine grape juice
2016 Sigurd Red Blend barossa valley, australia

A blend of grenache (50%), 20% syrah and nebbiolo and 10% mourvedre.
“I couldn’t nail grenache as a single variety, I felt”, says winemaker Dan Graham, with humility, “so I played around with blends to tighten it up, add complexity”. He’s hit a high note. Rests in old oak puncheons for its time before bottling.
Raucous perfume of sappy red cherry, kirsch, animale-like game meats, rose hip, brambles. The palate a suede-textured slosh of hearty red berry fruit, more briary-dried herb character, a fine web of quality tannins settling in. There’s vitality and freshness in the sluice of pretty fruit, spice and undergrowth character, indeed, it lifts to finish on a gentle sweet note. Absolutely delicious. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
