2016 Ruggabellus Quomodo
Notes from maker and grower, Abel Gibson..: 95% Riesling, 3% Semillon, 2% Muscat, 104 cases made, avg. 6days on skins. The Riesling components are from three different old vine vineyards, the majority from a vineyard planted in the 1930’s. All of these are aged in neutral old french oak hogsheads on lees for the two years before being blended with a small amount of Semillon and Muscat from the Sallio base wine. Its not much but I really like the texture of Semillon and the aromatics of Muscat, useful for contributing a touch of softness to the very serious Riesling. They spend 3 months together in tank prior to bottling in June and 3 months in bottle prior to release in September. All vineyards are in the Eden valley.
