2016 Naudin Clematis Vitalba

Named for one of the flowers (wild) found in the vineyard.
Older vineyard, natural fermentation, no additions until the end (sulphur in low quantity), no filtering. Claire Naudin says “I’m pretty lazy”, but of course she is joking, it takes a lot of concentration to make wine this high quality, this way. This is an excellent wine. Honey notes, faint nougat, sniffs of ripe apple and green melon. The palate has some weight but crackles with chalky texture and vivid ‘mineral character’. The depth is charming, the saline tang refreshing, the sense of purity to close so very pleasing. Slightly wilder personality, but so compelling. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
