Notes from Dane: This release diverges slightly from the composition of the 2016 version. The 2017 vintage of the Reserve Red is entirely Pinot Noir but from two different sites. The first component is from the Cardinia Ranges vineyard that Hannah and I farm which is on Granitic sandy soils. The majority of the 1.5t of Pinot we harvested from this vineyard gets manifested into the Cardinia Rosé. The remaining 500kg of fruit was destemmed by hand into stainless steel along with 400kg of Pinot Noir (also destemmed by hand) from our good friend Peter Preuss who farms a small vineyard in the Yarra Valley. The vineyard is less than an acre in total and is farmed organically and entirely by hand. It produces remarkably good fruit year after year, albeit just not much of it.
