2016 Good Intentions Wine Co. Frankie
We've had most of these wines before, but this is the first time we've had them all together at once, ready to go. Notes from the main man - Andrew Burchell..: Cabernet Franc from sandy soils over shallow limestone. The Wine from down the beach! This vineyard is in Mt Benson just north of our coastal retreat in Robe. Half the fruit is destemmed into open fermenters and the other half sealed as whole bunches for carbonic maceration. Once delicious the whole bunches are destemmed into the first destemmed portion. Left on skins for over a week then pressed to old oak. This wine took until December to ferment all the way through due in part to low nitrogen in the sandy soils and the freezing cold end of our vintage/winter/always in Mount Gambier. Some things just take a long time. Racked from barrel to bottling.
